In 2002, Matthew Linton was awarded his first major solo exhibition in the state of Texas. While recovering from his battle with cancer, Matthew somehow found the energy to print an exhibition of his Roadside America Polaroids that would fill five galleries in The Arts Alliance Center at Clear Lake (TAACCL). Over 100 images were printed in sizes ranging from 8x8 to 44x44 inches square. Included in the exhibition were three sound stations showcasing Linton's sound art as well as a 35 minute video piece which ran on a continuous loop in one of the upstairs galleries. The opening was an event in itself with car clubs holding a car show and a performance team of lindy hoppers leading the attendees in dancing to swing music with an American and traveling theme. The Arts Alliance Center at Clear Lake is located in Clear Lake, Texas and is the largest and most exclusive arts venue in the area.
